AI Act: transparency and editorial responsibility

Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on artificial intelligence, the “AI Act”: what it requires on transparency and what BXLpositive.news actually does.

This page describes the applicable framework and the outlet's verifiable practices. It is not a certification of compliance.

Sources checked on 2 October 2026: AI Act Service Desk, Article 50 (EUR-Lex consolidated text of 27 July 2026) · European Commission FAQ · FPS Economy (French page updated on 3 September 2026).

Key dates

  • 1 August 2024 — the Regulation enters into force.
  • 2 February 2025 — ban on unacceptable AI practices (Art. 5).
  • 2 August 2025 — obligations for providers of general-purpose AI models.
  • 2 August 2026 — Article 50 (transparency) applies.
  • 2 December 2026 — end of the transition period, only for the Article 50(2) marking and detectability of systems placed on the market before 2 August 2026.

Postponements for high-risk AI systems do not postpone the whole Regulation. According to the Commission, content produced before 2 August 2026 does not need to be labelled retroactively, although it encourages doing so where possible.

Article 50(2): providers of generative systems

Providers of AI systems generating synthetic content (audio, images, video or text) must mark that content in a machine-readable format and make it detectable as artificially generated or manipulated. Exceptions exist, notably when the system only performs an assistive function for standard editing.

BXLpositive.news uses models supplied by third parties (Google, OpenAI, via Lovable AI Gateway). Whether any activity of the outlet also makes it a provider depends on an analysis of that specific activity; this page does not assign it that role by default.

Article 50(4): deployers

  • Deepfakes — images, audio or video constituting a deepfake must be disclosed as generated or manipulated.
  • Text published to inform the public on matters of public interest — the deployer must disclose that it was generated or manipulated by AI.

The exception specific to text requires two cumulative conditions: human review or editorial control, and a natural or legal person holding editorial responsibility for the publication. It does not cover images, video, providers' obligations or the Regulation's other obligations.

According to the Commission, superficial, purely formal or procedural checks (spelling, grammar) are not human review or editorial control: a deliberate examination of the substance by knowledgeable people is required.

What BXLpositive.news does

  • Editorial responsibility — the publisher is the non-profit BXLOVE NEWS PRESSE IA ASBL; see the legal notice.
  • Check before publication — since October 2026, a new publication is blocked until a reviewer and a fact-checker are recorded on the article, with at least one verifiable source. The verification log lists the recorded checks.
  • Archives — articles published before this check have not been validated retroactively; no review is invented for them.
  • AI label — we voluntarily disclose AI assistance on the articles and images concerned, and the AI log lists the models used. This label alone does not prove full compliance.
  • No deepfakes — we do not generate faces or voices imitating a real, identifiable person.

Article 5 — Prohibited practices

We use no social scoring, subliminal manipulation, sensitive biometric categorisation, emotion recognition at work or school, or mass collection of facial images.

Who supervises in Belgium?

The FPS Economy handles the general coordination of the AI Act's implementation in Belgium. The competent authorities depend on the provisions and activities concerned; their allocation should be checked against official sources. At EU level, the Commission's AI Office supervises general-purpose AI models.
