More than 60 galleries and antique dealers are taking part, including an exceptional opening of the former Apostolic Nunciature. Visitors can journey from archaeology to contemporary art through the district’s streets.
The Sablon opens its doors — including some that rarely open
In Brussels, opening a door can be enough to enter another era. From Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 September, the Sablon becomes one vast open art trail. Behind the district’s windows, courtyards and façades, Brussels Art Square brings together dealers, galleries and enthusiasts presenting objects that tell thousands of years of creative history.
This edition’s most intriguing door is at number 32-34: the former Apostolic Nunciature, once the Vatican’s diplomatic representation in Brussels, is exceptionally opening its interior. Restored by art historian and decorator Anne Derasse with artist Jörg Bräuer, the venue hosts the “Artist residency ARTE NUNZIO Quinta do Pinhô 2026” exhibition with six international artists.
An art journey without a plane ticket
Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Flemish Primitives, eighteenth-century furniture, tribal art, Symbolism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Murano glass, Japanese and Chinese art, antique and contemporary jewellery: the official trail lets centuries converse rather than placing them in separate boxes.
That variety is the event’s strength. Visitors may enter for a sculpture, pause at a jewel and leave with a new curiosity for an unfamiliar period. Participating galleries are spread across the Sablon, a district with a remarkable concentration of art dealers in Belgium.
The 2026 surprise: unexpected places and perspectives
Alongside the former Nunciature, new addresses are joining the trail, including Cabinet.bxl, Pascale Vilain and Carl-Willem. The latter, at 33 Rue des Minimes, brings modern and contemporary art into dialogue with historical figures.
At Subspace, 13 Rue Lebeau, an exhibition devoted to sensuality places historical works alongside contemporary creations. Brussels Art Square therefore invites visitors to approach art through heritage, craftsmanship, beauty, collecting, surprise and conversation.

- Thursday 24 September: 3–10 pm — Thursday’s opening is announced by the organisers as invitation-only.
- Friday 25 September: 11 am–7 pm.
- Saturday 26 September: 11 am–7 pm.
- Sunday 27 September: 11 am–5 pm.
