Heritage in Motion: when Brussels City Hall becomes a dance performance

What if your next cultural outing took you dancing inside Brussels City Hall ? From 19 to 23 August 2026, the iconic monument on the Grand-Place hosts Heritage in Motion, a creation by the Abis company, choreographed by Julien Carlier.

An immersive walk through Brussels' heritage

Heritage in Motion is neither a classic guided tour nor a conventional dance show. It is an immersive experience where the audience moves from room to room, following the rhythm of the performances. At each step, a new choreography reveals a different setting, turning the Gothic architecture of City Hall into a living stage.

The concept? Making contemporary dance and heritage converse in a history-laden space. Movement elevates the stone, stained glass, vaults and ceremonial rooms. The audience discovers the monument differently — between culture, poetry and emotion.

15 performances, limited seats

Only 15 performances are scheduled over five days. Times vary by date:

• Thursday 20, Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August : 5pm-6pm, 6:30pm-7:30pm and 8pm-9pm.
• Wednesday 19 and Sunday 23 August : 3pm-4pm, 4:30pm-5:30pm and 6pm-7pm.

Event languages: French, Dutch, English. Seats are limited: tickets are available online.
