Here it is, on 8 September 2026: visit.brussels unveils six new Brusselicious-labelled restaurants. Six Brussels houses where the shrimp croquette, the vol-au-vent and the stoemp are still made on site, by hand, every single day.
They join the forty or so venues already recognised across the 19 municipalities. Here is the list, and everything worth knowing about the tastiest label in the capital.
🏅 The six new 2026 label holders
- Volle Gas — Ixelles · the institution of place Fernand Cocq, Belgian brasserie to the core
- De Hoef 1627 — Uccle · the oldest tavern in Brussels still in business
- BRYC (Brussels Royal Yacht Club) — Laeken · canal-side dining, pontoon views
- La Pierre Bleue — Îlot Sacré, City of Brussels · the young guard of the historic centre
- Journal — Woluwe-Saint-Pierre · seasonal Belgian cooking, bistro spirit
- Moutarde — Ixelles · the classics revisited, no fuss
Landmarks (Volle Gas, De Hoef 1627, the BRYC) and young houses (La Pierre Bleue, Journal, Moutarde) in the same batch: the Brussels food scene moves on both legs.
All of them were visited by food journalists sitting on an independent jury. The criteria: quality, authenticity, origin and freshness of the products, cooking technique, the Belgian character of the venue and value for money.
At BXLPositive the forks are sharpened: we will taste all six, one by one — shrimp croquettes, vol-au-vent, stoemp and carbonades on the test bench — and every address will feed our upcoming BXLOVE 2027 💙 Guide.
What exactly is Brusselicious?
Brusselicious is a quality label created by visit.brussels. It recognises establishments in the Brussels-Capital Region serving authentic Belgian and Brussels cuisine: shrimp croquettes, vol-au-vent, américain préparé, eel in green sauce, stoemp, waterzooi…
To be eligible, a venue must be located in the Brussels-Capital Region, be open to the general public (no caterers or company canteens), explicitly promote Belgian cuisine and offer enough traditional dishes — or be a benchmark for one of those specialities. Restaurateurs can ask to be assessed by the external jury themselves.
Selected venues receive the Brusselicious logo to display in their window, plus visibility on brusselicious.brussels and visit.brussels channels.
2024: the relaunch, and the crown for Les Brigittines
The label was relaunched in June 2024, with the announcement made on 24 June 2024.
The title of Brusselicious Restaurant of the Year 2024 went to Les Brigittines, opposite the Chapel Church, and its chef Dirk Myny, praised for his personal and authentic reading of Belgian cuisine — his famous zennepot above all — and for promoting it nationally and internationally.
A note on transparency: the exact number of venues in that first edition varies by source. La DH reported 35 establishments on 24 June 2024, VRT NWS 26 restaurants selected by the jury, while visit.brussels refers to “some thirty” restaurants in its 2025 press release. We quote all three sources rather than invent a single figure.
2025: fourteen new addresses, more than 40 in total
On 23 June 2025, visit.brussels announced the first update of the list: 14 new restaurants, bringing the total to more than 40 venues across the 19 municipalities. Every 2024 holder kept its label.
The fourteen new addresses named in the official press release:
- Taverne du Passage — City of Brussels
- Le Corbier — City of Brussels
- Brasserie Ommegang — City of Brussels
- Belga Queen — City of Brussels
- Au Stekerlapatte — the Marolles
- Pigeon Noir — Michelin-starred
- Les Potes en Toque — Ganshoren
- Le Waterloo — Saint-Gilles
- Les Brassins — Ixelles
- Timber — Watermael-Boitsfort
- Au Repos de la Montagne — Uccle
- Brasserie Boemvol
- Kartouche
- Le petit bonbon
The last three were recognised shortly after opening — proof that the jury also looks at the new generation, not only at institutions.
Why this label matters for Brussels
Because it highlights living heritage: the houses that peel, simmer and finish their sauces on site. In a capital where the cuisines of the whole world shine, Brusselicious is a reminder that a home-made shrimp croquette is heritage too.
The full list of label holders is available on brusselicious.brussels — and we will keep following it, municipality by municipality.
